A weekend with out a pooch!

My Mom spent the weekend with my sister, Leslie and her family. I have to admit that I did not miss having YuKi around for the last few days. It was so nice to not have a yappy dog run to the door every time someone came to visit and bark our ears off. I also did not mind hearing about all of the poops she does when MOm takes her out for her walks. I know that sounds gross but that is my life everyday. Thanks Leslie for having Mom and the YuKster for the weekend, it was a much needed break!

What are the chances?

For the last several weeks that my MOm and YuKi have been here I have tried to talk my Mom into letting the dog.... I mean YuKi, be alone on the deck. Now, I know that the deck is two stories up off of the ground but, it is not like it does not have railing. Railing that has been built to code. In true dog owner fashion MOm will not let YuKi out on the deck alone as she knows that she will attempt to jump off the deck. Mind you there are several plants in large pots that line the railing and I truly believe that YuKi is smart enough to not jump off the deck! I feel for you pouchy!!!

Driving to Utah

Have you ever driven from San Diego to Alpine, Utah? I'm sure there are some of you who have done this drive... but, have you ever done it with a dog sitting next to you in the front passenger seat? Have I mentioned how YuKi has horribly, stinky, dog breath? I know she is a dog, that is how God made her and she does not know how to brush her teeth but did she have to aim her head towards the left? Towards me the whole entire twelve hours? That was me over a month ago! Mom being the selfless, dog lover that she is did not want YuKi to be sick so she sat in the back the whole trip!

YuKi will only use grass that she is use to....

August 26, 2010

The mover's are in full swing. Wrapping, boxing, crating the home of my parents. It is Thursday and day three of the packing. It is time to go to the hotel for Mom to get out of the way. We find a Residence Inn by Marriott that allows dogs in their rooms for a fee. Mom takes YuKi out to do her duty and according to Mom she will not do her duty because she is not use to it. I look at Mom .... like really?.... YuKi will not pee?? Maybe she does not have to go? No, the answer is and she promptly goes into the front desk to let them know that her dog will not pee on their property! I really do not make this stuff up! Mom has Brent and I go back to the house to let the dog do her thing..... since then YuKi has learned to do her duty in new places!

The first post of the YuKi Chronicles....

Not sure where this is going to go but I want to share my experience with my Mom's dog. Please, do not let her know that I think she is a dog as my Mom refers to YuKi as my little sister. It is interesting to have a parent who loves animals more than most humans. I have decided to spell YuKi's name this way to showcase her initials. Yuki Kleinman!

August 25, 2010....
The mover's are at the house in San Diego to pack up over fifty years of marriage. Dad passed away in April and Mom & YuKi have been at the house for the last few months. The house has sold and I am there to help expedite this move. This is the sixth move that I have been involved with in the last year and a half and I am glad that Mom will be closer to her family!

Back to the mover's....

Mom and I set the things she wanted to take with her to UTah on the kitchen table. All of YuKi's medication (more on that later...) bowls, distilled water for her drinking, etc.
Mom realizes that the silver colored bowl has inadvertently been packed! She was upset, as all dog owners would be, I suppose. I tried to help her realize that it was not that big of a deal and that I could run to the dollar store and pick up a new bowl for the YuKster... Mom in a very stern voice tells me in no uncertain terms, "YuKi will not be eating out of a dollar store bowl!"

So there you have it.... I think I will end it for today. I do not have a problem eating out of a dollar store bowl and I must assume that YuKi would not either or maybe she would....
